UNE COLLECTION ÉTÉ ENGAGÉE

A COMMITTED SUMMER COLLECTION

THE CALL OF THE SEA, THE WINDS IN THE SAILS GAVE ME THIS NEW MOMENTUM

For 10 years, we have specialized in happiness, softness and warmth in fleece blankets, the ones we reserved for long winter evenings. We wanted a committed summer collection, to infuse the blanket with lightness so that it also becomes the ally of our shared moments during the warm season. It is in these moments that the plaid turns away from its role as an extra blanket to become a play mat, a picnic tablecloth, a tablecloth in short, a bed throw, a quilt, a sofa throw and other derivatives offered by the fabric. when the good weather comes.

We therefore designed a collection that breathes, and nothing better for this than the use of natural fibers such as cotton and linen. Beyond offering you a cocooning universe in all seasons, at Plaids Cocooning, we make a point of giving a human and supportive axis to our profession.

We believe that change resides in each of us and in each of our daily attentions. Whether in management, choice of materials or manufacturing processes.

Therefore it was important for us to collaborate with responsible and committed production.

THE CHOICE OF ETERNAL INDIA AS A PRODUCING COUNTRY

Why choose to produce our linen and cotton throws so far away, when we could do it closer to home?

Because India is the second largest cotton producing country in the world. Its hot and humid climate, more precisely the monsoon, is conducive to cotton cultivation. The latter requires a temperature above 15° and a lot of water for most of its cycle.

Indeed, working with India also means looking towards the world, being interested in others and investing in more human and social causes that lead Indian society to develop.

Therefore, for our engaged summer collection, we chose to work with a producer committed to improving women's living conditions. He founded an NGO working for the protection of young women and their environments. It is a notion that we also call in English “empowerment”.

Nanhi Yaara Development Society aims to fight against female feticide on the one hand (India is one of the countries in the world with the highest rate) and, on the other hand, to support women in taking their place in society, to guide them, to build their own path to success and respect.

ESTABLISH A COLLECTION, SIMPLE AND TIMELESS

We met our supplier through happy coincidences, even if of course coincidence does not exist and there are only meetings. So, one thing led to another, we went to meet him and Natou; my mother who accompanies me in my fabric selections. She is the daughter of the upholstery seamstress, it is also Natou who taught me to know the weight of a fabric just by caressing it and who made me aware of the different types of stitches .

And because happy coincidences never happen alone, we were invited to a friend's wedding in Bombay at the same time. Combining business with pleasure, one of my passions.

After a few wedding days in Bombay, and yes in India weddings are celebrated for days, we left for the north of India to meet our producer. We had already worked out what we wanted to develop in our collection; simple products, in natural materials with beautiful finishes and colors that remind us of the northern beaches; which we particularly like.

We therefore chose washed linen fabrics for our summer collection, both plaid and tablecloth. Linen gauze fabrics, like a light breeze on the skin, which can also act as a curtain. Cotton models, perfect to replace beach foutas. Others in cotton velvet and linen, which really replace the fleece blanket. And a bi-material cotton and linen bedspread in the colors of the dunes. A simple and authentic summer collection.
