GET AWAY

As you know, at Plaids Cocooning, we love to suggest unusual destinations and exceptional places. Today, we're talking about the best hotels we've found for you to stay in the mountains. From the most unusual to the most authentic, let's take a look at our favorites this season.

THE CHALET HOTEL KAYA

BETWEEN LUXURY AND TRADITION

This 4-star SPA hotel takes you to an altitude of 2000m. A top-of-the-range mountain hotel that will take your breath away. Conveniently located in the heart of the Three Valleys ski area, it's the start of a breathtaking journey. This chalet combines the authenticity of a classic mountain chalet with the eccentricity of a luxury hotel. That's why we've selected it as one of our top mountain hotels.

Whether you're an explorer for a day or a lifetime, a lover of endless nature and heart-pounding adventures... Welcome to the cradle of your fondest memories.

In addition to standard rooms designed for duo getaways, the establishment offers three types of suite. Junior Suites and Kaya Suites can accommodate up to 4 people. Prestige Suites are designed for groups of 4 to 6 people. The smell of wood fires, the warmth of traditional decor... One thing's for sure, at Chalet Hôtel Kaya, you'll want to stay!

A UNIQUE DECOR

The interior of the Kaya has been completely revamped by architect Kristian Gavoille. The dominant materials are wood, leather and wool, which combine harmoniously to weave a warm, comfortable cocoon. Indeed, borrowed directly from the Andes and their traditional tribes, the rugs and tapestries that adorn the Kaya invite us to travel and disconnect.

The South American colors contrast with the white purity of the snow and the bedroom linens. This is what gives the Hôtel Kaya its distinctive character.

HOTEL MIL8

AN EXCEPTIONAL LOCATION

In the heart of the Avoriaz ski area, enjoy privileged access to the Mil8 hotel. Put on your skis and discover the vastness of the Portes du Soleil ski area.

And that's not all! The hotel offers top-quality services: sauna and swimming pools overlooking the resort. After a hard day's skiing, come and relax in the spa while enjoying the view of the slopes. And if you don't ski, spend the day...! Après-ski at Mil8 is a tradition. The lounge and dining areas are designed for total disconnection and communion with nature.

ATYPICAL DECOR

Far from the ambiance of traditional chalets, architect Hervé Marullaz, in association with Atelier Obermant, has created a chic, modern version of the alpine chalet. The four facades, with their tapered lines and voluptuous curves, stand out from the crowd. In keeping with this contemporary spirit, the 42 rooms and suites feature dark woodwork, wide woolly drapes and Japanese-style wood panels...enough to travel without even moving!

And what about the view from the rooms? The hotel's 360-degree orientation means that each room offers a different but equally surprising view. In fact, Mil8's rooms are an invitation to relax and let go.

LE REFUGE DE SOLAISE

LUXURIOUS AMENITIES

One of our favorites! There are many reasons why we've selected it as one of our top mountain hotels... First and foremost, its location. Located at an altitude of 2500m, it's a veritable white paradise overlooking the Val d'Isère valley. This makes it the highest hotel in the French Alps. Staying at the Refuge de Solaise means experiencing a warm and welcoming getaway in the heart of nature.

What's more, it's home to the famous Gigi restaurant. Italian gastronomy expressed in all its grandeur and generosity. But if you're looking for a simpler meal, why not opt for the Petit Refuge restaurant, which caters for skiers from breakfast to afternoon tea.

And if you want to relax after a long day on the slopes, you're spoilt for choice! A SPA, a 25-meter swimming pool, two Jacuzzis, two hammams, an outdoor sauna and a hairdressing salon...

CHIC, ART DECO STYLE

From stone walls and local wood to chic furniture dressed in wool, the decor of the refuge de Solaise never ceases to surprise. First of all, the Competition rooms are decorated in a warm, woody style. The Olympic rooms, with their houndstooth detailing, take us back decades. Finally, in the Danaïdes rooms, we instantly notice the azure blue hues and velvet accents, which are completely at odds with the ambience of the place!

All rooms feature sunny terraces and large bay windows overlooking the valley. Indeed, the spirit of the place is warm and nature-oriented. So many reasons why it's one of the best mountain hotels around.

HOTEL ALPARENA & SPA

A RELAXING INTERLUDE

In the heart of the Rosière resort, this 4-star hotel offers direct access to the slopes. Its south-facing position ensures unobstructed views over the Haute-Tarentaise valley.

As the name suggests, there's plenty of choice when it comes to relaxation! You'll have the chance to try out the many facilities on offer: wellness area of over 1000m2, swimming pool, hammams, saunas, whirlpools, fitness... There's something for everyone. What's more, even children have their own paddling pool! The hotel offers rooms and apartments of all sizes and prices.

Last but not least, in terms of flavour, the hotel offers two restaurantsthe cosy the Alpagio and the panoramic terrace of the Solario.

SOBRIETY AND COMFORT

When it comes to decor, there's no doubt that this is a mountain hotel! From the large bay windows in the rooms to the mirrored windows in the SPA, the hotel shines. The light is so bright that you won't even want to go skiing, but rather admire the view for hours!

Likewise, the rooms are sober and classic in tone, but the materials used are noble and give the room an upscale look. Here, enjoy the breathtaking views of the mountain ranges without moderation.
